Maurizio Caserta is Full Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and Business of the University of Catania. Alongside his main interests in the field of macroeconomics and growth, he has recently been involved in the interesting and still promising area of economic analysis of Institutions. Law courts and parliamentary institutions have been the main focus of his interests in the area. The issue addressed in both cases is that of efficiency. The issue of efficiency of law courts is a multifaceted one ranging from the minimization of administrative procedures costs to the quality of courts ruling. Similarly the issue of parliament efficiency ranges from minimization of the functioning costs of the institution to the quality of parliament outcomes.
